Ok. The BzChess has been upgraded to version 2.0. The fixes are minor but
so what. Keep sending
ideas etc...
So, I had some bad mistakes in this file (version : no number) but
most of īem should be now fixed.
Just remember that my english isnīt very good and I really havenīt spent much time at
school
trying to remember all the words in Chess-language ;)
Anyway. Here are the fixes : Bishop is now Knight (real name) and Messenger is now Bishop.
And finally. The PLANET has been changed to EUROPA so that people could see further.
Oh, also, 4 players are allowed to joing the game. (2 as players, 2 as watchers or
referees)

DESCRIPTION : Check Introduction
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Ok. I decided to make something cool (and boring) for Bzone.
Well, this is what I came up - BattleZone Chess. Normal chess but
in 3d and with the Bz engine. This "addon" needs loads of work
from the players, as there is no "rules" added to the code of Bz.
(I donīt know anythinī ībout C++ and other stuff), So, the 2 players
are the referees and check that every move is legal. (Basicly you need
to know the rules of chess before playing this.)
To make this simple : This is CHESS for Bzone.
Note : This is on Secondary Beta -stage and I hope to get some feedback, suggestions from
you.
2.0 RULES
Here comes the s**tty part. I wonīt tell you the rules of real chess but some basics
about the Bz Chess.
The rules of Chess are simple. There are 6 different types of "units". One of
your units
is the King, the main character. To win the game, you must disable the movement of
the King (so that he canīt move anywhere without being destroyed)
Hmmm, Iīm not very good telling these so I recommend you try to find good Chess-site
at the net and read the rules there. Crappy.
Chess is turn-based. When player finishes his / her turn he / she must say : "Your
Turn"
The another player should say : "Roger" or "Okey" or something like
that to make it clear he / she
understood that Itīs his / her turn.
When player decides to eat some unit (if itīs legal move) he / she must go to the unit
which he / she
is going to use to eat (destroy) the enemy unit. Then s/he just launches (fires) his / her
weapons
and boom. The enemy unit is eaten (destroyed.)
Before starting the game, The guy who plays with CCA, goes through every unit that s/he
has.
So that the color of the CCA units turn RED in the NSDF dudeīs radar. When this is done,
players decide who will start. If player 1 starts, then player 2 will say : "Go"
Or something like that. (Reason : Both know when the game begins)
When Player 1 has moved, Player 2 goes check player 1īs move. If itīs illegal move, then
player 1 should move the unit where it was originally and move another unit....
3.0 UNITS
There are 6 different kinds of units, everyone of them are important.
SOLDIER ( Scout & Fighter / Razor & Flanker )
There are 8 soldiers on both sides. They can only move 1 square forward.
But, 2 when they are moving the 1st time. They canīt eat (destroy) anything
except the unit which is TOP LEFT or TOP RIGHT of it.
Note : Soldier cannot move backwards.

Note : When soldiers reach the end of the board (enemyīs 1st square-line) it can be
changed to
another unit. This option is
disabled in this version of BzChess coz I donīt know how
to make it true :( (help
needed)
BISHOP ( Rocket Tank / Grendel ) (formely know as the Messenger, fixed
and real name added. My mistake again)
Messenger can be really tricky when it is used well. It can easily do
tough traps to enemy units. It can only move to 4 directions.
TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, LOW LEFT and LOW RIGHT.
It can move as many squares as possible. (If there is allready
some unit blockinī Messengerīs way, it canīt jump across it)

Messenger (X) can eat the enemy unit (x) if itīs away 2-8 squares of him. (If it has a clear line to it)
KNIGHT ( Bombers / Thunderbolt & Grendel ) (was formely know as the Bishop, itīs fixed now, my mistake)
Bishop can move 2+1 squares. What I mean is that 2 forward, left, right or back,
+ 1 on the left or right (top or below) of the moved place. Itīs hard to explain. (Reason
: my bad English)

X = Bishop / x = places that the Bishop can move. The eating is same.
It can eat the unit that is located at the square which is marked with x.
TOWER ( Turrets )
Tower is good unit. It can move in 4 directions. North, East, South and West.
It can move as many squares as possible (untill the end of the board comes or until some
friendly
unit blocks itīs way). Tower is much like the Messenger. Only different things are
the movement and eating.

So, the tower can move as many squares as possible (not just 2)
QUEEN ( Normal tank. / Czar & Grizzly )
Queen is probably one of the dangeroust units available.
It can move in every directions (8) and can eat the same
way as Messenger or Tower.

Eating is same.
KING ( APC )
When King is killed, the game ends. King can only move 1 square but in all
directions.
It canīt move to a square where enemy is cabable of eating the King. When King
is surrounded so that it canīt move anywhere (cause it would be destroyed). The game
ends.

4.0 ALL OTHER STUFF
Ok, I bet the unit thingies have some mistakes, so that Itīs higly recommended that
you know
the rules of Chess (said it again :) ). Not for those who havenīt played chess ever.
The game can suck or it can rule (if you like chess is one of the things that matter.)
Good game can be achieved if both know the rules and both checks the move
that other is making.
As I said somewhere above, this is on Early Beta stage and I need loads of help
to get this better. Thank you.

Installation Instructions

Before you begin exit Battlezone if it is running.
1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your
BattleZone\addon subdirectory.
2) Do not modify any of the files in any way!
The map will no longer work and/or lose multiplayer compatability.
If you edit the files.
3) Run mapadder.exe, enter the mapīs name (Bzchess1.)
Next time you play the map will be available to you.
(Or go get Bz Control Panel somewhere...)
4) And if that doesnīt work, add this line into NETMIS.TXT
Bzchess2.bzn Bzchess2.des 4 4 Bzchess2.vxt D BzoneChess2
5) Send some feedback about the map to the author...
All other players must have this map if you want to play with them.
(So donīt start screwing around with the files ;) )
